Pamela and Pepe in Lienzo la San Martina

The second and my final day of my visit to Durango I joined Pamela and Pepe for a drive just outside of the city to  Lienzo La San Martina, a horse riding arena. Dressed in full charro attire Pamela and Pepe looked absolutely elegant. Later in the evening Pepe even allowed me inside the ring to show me some amazing horse riding tricks. In the end I think the photos really channeled a little inspiration from the golden age of Mexican cinema and novelas.

Photoshoot with Pamela in Durango, Mexico

This week I spent the last few days of my trip in capital city of Durango, Durango, Mexico with Pamela and some beautiful and majestic horses. Our first day I explored a bit of her family's beautiful yard where I was greeted by a multitude of happy pets and horses then to the "la feria," the county fair where the rest of her husband's horses were being shown to the public. If there's one thing I loved about staying in Durango, it was the hospitality shown to me by Pamela and her husband Pepe.

Roaming a pueblito with Ruby in Durango, Mexico

Ruby and I took some time to break away from a family quinceanera (more photos on that later!) to explore the small pueblito surrounding the fiesta. We found in particular an abandoned building that peaked my interest. It seemed to be made of brick and mud but in a state of decay. The roof was absent totally open to the sun, empty rooms filled with vegetation, and random holes in the walls made which made for excellent light and shadows.

Photoshoot with Ruby at Mormon Rocks

Ruby and I enjoyed our day off with an impromptu photoshoot on our hike into Mormon Rocks territory. These sandstone formations are riddled with small holes and caves with an excellent view of the Cajon Pass area. It's not everyday she wears such a bright shirt and her sunglasses came in handy to add some refraction and warmth to the photos. Some very light dodging and sharpening was done, virtually a finished image straight from camera.
